The Biggest Jackpot in Europe

EuroMillions is one of the most renowned lotteries, not only in Europe, where it’s the biggest one, but globally too and regularly produces 9-digit jackpots. The current record is €190 million euros, which is also the game’s maximum top prize.

It has even been won twice – once in August 2012 by a British couple (Adrian and Gillian Bayford) and two years later in October 2014, when a lucky player from Portugal had the winning jackpot numbers to walk away with the same amount.

Earlier, in July 2011, the jackpot was won by another UK couple – Christine and Colin Weir for an equally impressive €185 million euros.

Play Options & Prizes at LottoPoint

Playing the EuroMillions is far from difficult with LottoPoint, where you can enter the draws with a minimum of 3 individual lines, so you increase your chances for a win, without spending a lot. As with other lottos, have in mind there are 50 numbers to choose from, so be sure to include higher ones in your combinations – don’t stick to birthday dates only in your 5/50 + 2/12 combinations. Make sure you include “hot” and “cold” numbers, as well as odds and evens to balance them.

Our Subscription service works great with such a big lotto, as you start saving on draw entries while guaranteeing yourself to never miss a draw or claiming your prize. If you manage to win, we will notify you immediately through e-mail or phone and receiving it’s totally straightforward – smaller winnings will be credited directly to your account for you to withdraw or enter more draws with. As for bigger prizes, a member of our team will contact you personally over the phone to inform you of the great news and will arrange a convenient transfer, after your identity is verified.

Quick Lottery Overview

The name EuroMillions comes from the number of countries on the Old Continent participating in the draws – a total of 9 of them, including Austria, Belgium, France, Ireland, Luxembourg, Portugal, Spain, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom. More than 10 years ago the game was established by the operators of the official lotteries of Spain, France, and the United Kingdom.

In order to generate the multi-million prizes it does, the lottery employs a 5-out-of-50 format, complemented by 2 “Lucky Star” numbers, ranging from 1 to 12 – match all 7 numbers correctly and your life will never be the same.

Speaking of jackpots, the guaranteed starting top prize is €17 million euros, upped from €15 million a couple of years ago. Players also have two chances per week to give their lucky numbers a chance – on Tuesday and Friday evenings, so you’re never short of playing opportunities. LottoPoint will publish immediately the EuroMillions draw results, right after they take place.

The Story of EuroMillions

The lottery was started in February in 2004, when France’s Française des Jeux, Spain’s Loterías y Apuestas del Estado and the United Kingdom’s Camelot Group joined forces to create the biggest lottery in Europe.

These three companies are the appointed operators of the official lotteries in the initial participating countries. The game proved hugely popular and a number of other European countries joined as well – EuroMillions is the perfect name for it.

The playing format has evolved over the years to adjust for the growing popularity of the game and to offer bigger jackpots – the latest change was in September 2016, when the number of “Lucky Star” numbers, increased from 11 to 12, lowering the winning chances slightly, but generating bigger prizes.

How to Play the Biggest Lottery in Europe?

The game’s rules and playing format are fairly standard when it comes to huge lottos – 5 main numbers from a pool of 50, along with 2 bonus numbers from 1 to 12 and two weekly draws, featuring a guaranteed starting jackpot of €17,000,000 euros. As the jackpot is capped at €190 million, once this amount is reached, the sum in the lower prize tiers starts to increase, meaning that even if you fail to match all 7 winning numbers, you could still get a massive prize in the lower categories.

As for the draws, they are at 20:45 CET on Tuesday and Friday evenings – make sure you are prepared when the time comes!

The game also features a special drawing occasionally, called the Super Draw, when the guaranteed starting jackpot is €100,000,000 euros – easy to see why it’s Europe’s favorite lottery, proven by the French, who are the most frequent winners with 85 jackpots to their name. Make sure you visit LottoPoint frequently to see how big the top-prize is – jackpots of over €100 million have been won 39 times, a regular testament to game’s popularity and success.

Prize Categories and Winning Odds

We did mention EuroMillions is a huge lotto and this goes for its prize division structure – there are a whole 13 prize levels with a wide range of winning combinations available. You will win a prize by matching as few as 2 of the main numbers or only a single main number and the two of “Lucky Stars”, which brings a great number of winning possibilities and more than decent odds for a lottery win. The chances to win such a massive jackpot are better than in other major lottos, while the odds of 1:13 to win any prize make it even more attractive – you’re probably starting to see why this is Europe’s biggest lottery!

How to Win EuroMillions?

All of this diversity makes this lottery an incredibly well-rounded game, offering many different ways to go for that life-changing jackpot win. With LottoPoint you can enter draws with 1 line, but you’d be missing on some nice discounts, so don’t exclude the Multi-Draw feature too – you’ll be able to select the number of following draws to participate in and also make a saving.

Joining a EuroMillions syndicate is another fantastic way to make the most of your playing experience! It will boost your winning chances as you’ll be playing with hundreds of different number combinations, while also sharing the price to join the draw with fellow lotto enthusiasts. Of course, in the fortunate event of a win, you’ll be sharing the winning with your team too, but with the multi-million jackpots in play at this game, there’d be enough for all of you!

happy winners

Last but not least, be sure to check out our statistics feature – it will neatly show you the most and least frequently drawn numbers, also known as “hot” and “cold” numbers, so you generate your unique lotto combination strategically, should you decide to attack the jackpot on your own! Good Luck!
